Paula

Mixed Breed · Female

Beagle-lady Paula is looking for her forever home ❤️ The 6-year-old tricolor Beagle (spayed, approx. 18 kg) is looking for a new home. Paula is a friendly, eager to learn and sensitive dog lady who needs people with calmness, understanding and clear orientation by her side ❤️. Paula is a very loving, curious and affectionate female dog who enjoys being with her people. She knows the basic commands and a few tricks and walks well on a leash. She masters dog encounters based on sympathy - she plays exuberantly with some dog friends - and she eagerly retrieves her ball. She loves games of hide and seek with treats. She learns quickly and enjoys any form of shared activity. Café and restaurant visits are no problem with her. Where does Paula need support? Paula is a sensitive female dog who in certain situations sometimes gets overwhelmed quickly. Large, fast-moving trucks, loud noises, hectic movements or strangers who get too close to her can make her anxious. In such moments, Paula has already had two biting incidents in the past due to great uncertainty. Her current owners are therefore unsure and use a muzzle outside - Paula lets herself be put on it without any problems. However, with people who can read her body language, give her security and do not pressure her, Paula shows how friendly and cooperative she is ❤️. Therefore, she needs people who give her security and time. We wish for Paula a quiet environment, preferably rural or on the outskirts of town. A house with a fenced yard would be ideal, but a quiet apartment is also possible. The loud, hectic city is not for her. No small children should live in the household. There is no experience here, currently no children live in the house. A confident first dog that gives her security would be nice - but Paula can also live well as a single dog. If you would like to get to know Paula, please contact us at the phone number provided. Paula is also featured on our website - here you can fill out the self-information form directly and enter the contact details ❤️.

About Paula

What life with Paula looks like

Paula is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Eisenach in Eisenach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Eisenach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Eisenach will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Paula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Eisenach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
