Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung)

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 12 years

Lorenz the tomcat and Kätzin Paula the female cat had to move to the animal shelter because their owner could no longer care for the tabby-white cat pair due to age and health reasons, and there was no one in the family who wanted to take over caring for the approximately twelve-year-old furry pair. Lorenz and Paula's little world collapsed, and for weeks after moving to the shelter, they would hide in cat or scratching tree dens as soon as someone entered their room. Paula also suffered from an untreated blood wart on her neck, which, although medically harmless, hindered her in running and jumping. The blood wart was successfully removed, and thanks to a very dedicated volunteer cat stroker and the perseverance of the shelter staff, Lorenz and Paula have since settled in. However, they are not yet classic lap cats. Both can be gently stroked, and when they get too much, they still retreat. But the phases in which they enjoy being stroked quietly behind their ears or on their chin are getting longer. In a quiet environment and with some empathy and patience from future owners, Paula and Lorenz will certainly become pleasant roommates. Since the spayed cat pair has only lived indoors so far, future outdoor access is excluded because Lorenz and Paula are not familiar with the associated dangers. The tomcat especially likes to sit in the fresh air, so a secure outdoor perch in the new home is a condition. Those interested in the quiet cat pair should first plan time for an in-depth mutual acquaintance at the shelter.

About Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung)

What life with Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) looks like

Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz in Neumarkt.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paula und Lorenz (Wohnungshaltung) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
