adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Peer has found a home! His story: 4 Kittens, 1 Destiny.. Peer was brought to safety with his 3 siblings when they were just over 2 weeks old. They were born to their mother on the street in Romania, and shortly after, she was hit by a car. So the 4 orphaned children came into our foster home. Peer immediately captivates with his looks. When you then take a closer look, his consistently cheerful nature also stands out. The young tomcat is a ray of sunshine. Always in a good mood, playful, active, and above all, happy to live. Because that is not always the case. When Peer was about 3 months old, FIP broke out in him. Fortunately, it was recognized early enough and he could be treated successfully. Peer makes the hearts of all cat lovers skip a beat. He is very open and friendly with people, and is a brave little guy. He handles new situations with ease and is not afraid of anything 🙂 Peer grew up with 3 dogs and has no problems with them at all. He even plays with them and is happy to see them. He also gets along wonderfully with cats; he lives with his 3 siblings to this day and plays with them. He has never known life as a single cat and we definitely want to avoid that. For him, it's simply too playful and social. He would love to take another furry paw into his new home if there isn't already a kitten waiting for him. Also, his foster family places great importance on him continuing to live as a house cat. Could our dreamy and beautiful Peer enchant you? Before he moves into his new home, he was neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas, just like all our other cats and tomcats. He was also tested negative for FIV and FeLV and packed his EU Companion Animal Passport. Many thanks to Ker W, who gave Peer his name! As of: 01.04. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Vielen Dank an Ker W, du hast Peer seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 01.04.2025

About Peer

What life with Peer looks like

Peer is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peer, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peer?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peer on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peer if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peer already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peer isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peer and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
