Pelle

Unknown · Adult · 4 years

A handsome blue cat with an estimated birthdate of 07/04/2022. He was caught during a rescue operation and taken in by our rescue center. No one has claimed him yet, so it's our task to find him a nice place! Pelle finds our humans rather scary. He has claimed his own little hideout in the shelter where we placed him and stays there, as long as we are present in the building, lying quietly until he feels the coast is clear. Despite finding people rather tense, he doesn't act mean. When we want to place something near him (for yes, love does go through the stomach), he just retreats a little deeper into his hiding spot until our "scary hands" are gone. Only when we leave the shelter does he dare to eat the offered treats. We hope that with this, we will win his trust more quickly and he will learn that we humans really do mean well. Here in the shelter, Pelle is housed with other cats. As far as we can tell, he tolerates the company of the other cats quite well. We have not seen him seek out contact or lie with or next to another cat. We therefore do not suspect that he needs another cat but could potentially be placed in a household where another cat is already present. Due to Pelle's fear, we do not place him in a household with a dog and/or (small) children. We think he has already had enough trouble adapting to people and life in a domestic environment. Pelle might, in the future, after a good adjustment period and the establishment of a good trust relationship, be able to go outside. Of course, a cat-proofed garden and/or cat run could always be an option. Are you just as smitten with his beautiful blue fur as we are? Then fill in the form below and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

About Pelle

What life with Pelle looks like

Pelle is a small adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
