Penny & Cindy

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

February 2025 Sisters Penny and Cindy are two beautiful 13 year young ladies who are looking for a lovely home together after the very sad death of their owner. This is the second owner that they’ve lost to cancer and they are very lucky to have been taken on by a friend of the original owner who has known them from their puppyhood. This family have two very young children and no garden so knew that it would only be temporary. Both girls are placid and sweet in nature and have been wonderful with the two young children of one and three years in this family. They are happy around other dogs and strangers and as they’ve got older they have been less likely to chase things like birds and squirrels which they did in their younger days. This owner don’t know how they will react around livestock but assumes they would be fine walking past on lead. They love a walk and enjoy going to the park and back, where they love playing and running together, Penny loves to play ball and will retrieve to your hand, where as Cindy gets bored and would rather sniff around. They are good travellers and happily sit in the back on a comfy bed behind the dog guard. They used to live with a cat who tolerated them and vice versa, but they will also bark when they see a cat through the window. They are both in good health except for a few lumps that Cindy has, the couple approached the Blue Cross for help finding the girls a home, but they were turned down because of their ages. Their favourite things after enjoying a lovely walk are snoozing in the sunshine in the garden or on the sofa with the family while having cuddles. After exercise the girls are happy to be left at home alone for several hours snoozing. Penny has a good recall but Cindy’s isn’t as quick or as reliable. Both girls are neutered and walk nicely on a collar and lead. They both have a few age related lumps and bumps and Cindy has had one on her shoulder removed previously. The girls are currently in London and will be rehomed with their 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and their Adoption Contract. If you feel that you could offer these two beauties a gentle, cuddly retirement please contact us asap. About Penny & Cindy

What life with Penny & Cindy looks like

Penny & Cindy is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Penny & Cindy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Penny & Cindy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Penny & Cindy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Penny & Cindy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Penny & Cindy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Penny & Cindy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Penny & Cindy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
