Penny

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Penny is a pretty cocker spaniel who is looking to find her forever home. Penny has a real love for life and people! She is a bright, affectionate and playful puppy who is always ready for her next adventure! She is a social girl and loves to greet everyone on her walks and enjoys being around people. Penny loves playing with toys - she would have you playing with her all day if she could! She would love a home that could match her energy and would be best suited in a home with an active family. Penny enjoys meeting other dogs and may be able to live with a dog of similar temperament in her new home with successful introductions at our centre. It is unknown how she would react around cats in the home. Due to her energetic nature, Penny could live with older children who are used to boisterous dogs, she would also need a home with a secure outdoor garden area to burn off all that puppy energy! Penny is still very much a puppy and is still learning the basics, so she will require a family who are around for most of the day initially, in order to provide her with continued support with her toilet training and socialisation.

About Penny

What life with Penny looks like

Penny is a puppy cocker spaniel dog waiting at USPCA.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Penny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Penny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. USPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Penny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Penny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — USPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Penny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Penny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with USPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Penny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
