Penny

Maltese · Female · Adult · 4 years

Maltese Penny - little sunshine seeks her big happiness The charming Penny originally comes from Spain and has recently arrived at her foster home in Germany. She spent her previous life with a breeder - a life where she hardly got to know anything. It is all the more beautiful to see with what joy and curiosity she now discovers her new world. Penny shows herself as an open-minded, brave and cheerful little female dog who collects new experiences every day and masters them amazingly calmly. She enjoys her new life to the fullest and develops further daily. Her house training is already being worked on diligently and she is making good progress. Penny gets along very well with other dogs and can live in a pack without problems. We can also imagine her as a single dog if her people have enough time for her. Due to her friendly nature, Penny is also suitable for motivated dog beginners who want to show her the beautiful sides of a dog's life with patience and love. For Penny we wish a home where she can arrive at her own pace and experience many wonderful adventures together. Who gives this lovable little female dog the chance at a happy life will have a loyal companion by his side. Click here for Penny's video

About Penny

What life with Penny looks like

Penny is a large adult maltese dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Penny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Penny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Penny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Penny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Penny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Penny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Penny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
