Pepa

Border Collie · Unknown

Pepa is a very special female dog for very special people. Not only does she combine wonderful character traits of Boxer and Border Collie, but she also shows her very personal character and her affection to her person by bringing their favorite toy, because she wants to play with her favorite person. She also loves to play or relax in the water. No, Pepa is not a young female dog, but she has already accumulated 13 years of life experience – fortunately, very good! What does this lovable, experienced female dog do in the animal shelter? The answer is sad. Pepa had a very happy life with her beloved person – until he fell ill. Since he didn't have any family nearby, he took a dog sitter, but the illness lasted too long, leaving Pepa with only the animal shelter. Now, she would so much like to experience a happy home again. Pepa is a charming and affectionate female dog who can adapt to the most varied circumstances and situations with great ease. She gets along well with all the other dogs, as well as with children, although she hasn't lived in a house with children. However, she especially loves having people around who give her their attention, play with her, take her for walks, or simply have fun. Pepa will happily return the fun. If Pepa could choose how she would like to live, she would prefer to live with a family or a community of people in a house in the countryside with a small garden and a small (dog) pool where she can play with her new trusted people and then relax. It's clear that the wise Pepa prefers the "sweet life" or, rather, she simply knows what is good for her. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

DE·Show original

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Pepa

What life with Pepa looks like

Pepa is a large adult border collie dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pepa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pepa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pepa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pepa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pepa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pepa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pepa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
