Peppy

Male · Senior · 10 years

This fun-loving ten-year-old will thrive with a family who can keep him entertained with all his favourite activities. Peppy is extremely smart and enjoys food-based enrichment puzzles, sniffy walks, and learning new tricks. An affectionate boy, Peppy prefers any tactile interactions to be on his terms and that his space is respected when he needs it. Toys are one of his most favourite things of all and he’ll become puppy-like when receiving a new toy to play with, charging around in a state of zoomies and excitement! Rotating his toy-box with a variety to choose from will keep him feeling very happy. Peppy is a one-of-a-kind pooch who has an abundance of character, and just as much love to give. His perfect match would be an adult-only family, who share his passion for the outdoors. He would love to find a family who will continue his training; he is super smart and keen to learn, so he makes for an excellent student! While he will need to be the only pet at home, he enjoys walking with a familiar doggy pal and has progressed brilliantly with his social skills. A secure garden of his own is essential, so that he can do lots of sniffing and pottering around. Another essential requirement is someone who will be around most of the time to keep him company, as he finds alone-time challenging. Peppy thrives with a predictable routine and our training team will be on hand to help him settle into his new home and guide his new adopters through his training. Ultimately, he'd love to find a calm and peaceful home, where he could spend his afternoons snuggled up on a cosy bed, after a day of fun activities!

About Peppy

What life with Peppy looks like

Peppy is a senior dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shoreham in Shoreham by Sea.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peppy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peppy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shoreham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peppy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peppy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shoreham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peppy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peppy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shoreham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peppy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
