Percy

Greyhound · Male · Young · 2 years

Reasons why we love this dog… I am very small for a Greyhound I am very quiet and gentle I am used to home life A quiet loving home where I can relax To live with another dog My favourite thing is: Cuddles and the sofa! Chilled with a goofy side Can live with older teens Needs to be an only dog If you adopt Percy (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during his lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Percy. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust. Percy is a lovely greyhound boy of around 2 years old, looking for his forever home. Percy has lived in a home previously, but came into our care as he didn't enjoy sharing his home with another dog (although he is friendly with dogs out on walks). Percy's family described him as “the most fantastic boy, so loving and quirky and with such a funny goofy side to him, and yet so calm and peaceful and lovely to be around”. He is used to home life, housetrained and generally very easy to live with! He loves his toys, loves snoozing on the sofa and is very affectionate with people. He does enjoy his walks, but is more of a couch potato and often isn't keen to go out for a second time! Percy needs to be the only pet, because he doesn't enjoy sharing his food, toys and resting areas with other dogs (he has no issues sharing with people, though!). He is sociable with other dogs on walks, though he generally isn't overly interested in them. Percy travels well in the car and walks beautifully on-lead. Percy hasn't been used to spending time on his own at home, but should be able to build up to short periods alone in time. Needs to be the only dog at home. Needs someone home most of the time initially, with potential to spend short periods alone in time. Must have access to the sofa!

About Percy

What life with Percy looks like

Percy is a small young adult greyhound dog waiting at Forever Hounds Trust in Cirencester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Percy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Percy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Forever Hounds Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Percy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Percy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Forever Hounds Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Percy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Percy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Forever Hounds Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Percy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
