Adopt Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Prevention campaign by Ulss 1 and the Province. Invitation to report wild boar carcasses. Last June, Ulss Dolomites and the Province of Belluno signed a collaboration agreement for urgent interventions to eradicate African swine fever, which currently shows no outbreaks in the Belluno area. African swine fever is a highly contagious and often lethal viral disease for domestic pigs (pig) and wild pigs (wild boar), but it is not transmissible to humans, dogs, or cats, although all three can represent a passive vector for indirect transmission. Currently, there are several active outbreaks in Europe, with the disease present mainly in some areas of the Po Valley, now approaching the borders of the Veneto region. At present, there is no vaccine or treatment for African swine fever (unlike Blue Tongue, which affected sheep farms in Belluno a few months ago, causing many more deaths than farmers attribute to wolves!). Therefore, the battle against the epidemic is fought mainly through prevention. The regulations require that all large game animals shot be delivered to specialized collection centers established by the Reserves, for biometric data collection and checks by the Provincial Police Service. All wild boars shot (about 6-700 each year in the Province of Belluno) through hunting activities, including those intended for personal consumption, must undergo trichinoscopy testing, in order to prevent possible cases of human trichinellosis (a food-borne zoonosis). Anyone who walks in nature - perhaps with a dog - can also contribute. Among the prevention measures is reporting to the Veterinary Service of Ulss 1 or the Provincial Police of Belluno any found wild boar carcasses by citizens. This collaboration is emphasized by signs placed along many hiking trails and forest areas, which invite people not to touch or move pig or wild boar carcasses. Obviously, the advice not to come into contact with the carcasses also applies to dogs, which, although not at risk of infection, can become a vehicle for transmitting the virus.

How do I contact the shelter about Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione Onlus Apaca handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. Can I adopt Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati if I live in another country?

Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Onlus Apaca early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peste suina e cani non sorvegliati and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
