Piegus

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Polski English Deutsch Piegus is one of those dogs that breaks your heart. He came to us on May 4, 2024, as a young pup—just one year old! And he’s been living here for two years now—unnoticed, no one asks about him. We’re terribly afraid that next year we’ll be writing about yet another anniversary of his stay at the shelter. We just don’t understand why this is happening. Piegus is a dog of stunning beauty—a classic medium-sized breed. He’s incredibly gentle with people. He loves walks and exploring the world. He’s cheerful, joyful, and full of good energy. He doesn’t particularly like other dogs of his own species; he tends to bark at other dogs during walks. This might stem from the immense overcrowding at the shelter, or maybe it’s something that will need to be worked on after adoption. What he really lacks most of all is a human companion by his side! Regular walks and peaceful sleep—these are so hard to come by at the shelter, yet Piegus needs them so badly. Let’s not let him waste away in the shelter—please give Piegus a chance at a normal life. For more information, contact volunteer Karolina at 501. If you’d like to help this dog but can’t adopt him, we invite you to join our walking team! Every day during the following hours. polski English Deutsch Piegus, to jeden z tych psów, z w powodu których jest na cholernie przykro. Piegus to wspaniałej urody pies, klasyczny średniak. Bardzo delikatny w stosunku do człowieka. Kocha spacery i eksplorowanie świata. About Piegus

What life with Piegus looks like

Piegus is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piegus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piegus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piegus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piegus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piegus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piegus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piegus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
