Piggy

Mixed Breed · Female

Piggy is a sweet girl currently weighing around 10 kg as of early March, but she is expected to grow into an adult size of 25–30 kg, making her a perfect companion for an active family. Due to an official authority procedure, six tiny babies, including Piggy, came into our care, and the first week proved critical for their survival. Since then, Piggy has grown big and confident, and she’s already showing a bit of her independent spirit, sometimes she decides she has her own plans instead of listening to her foster mom. Piggy is one of the more playful and adventurous girls of the litter. She loves exploring, trying new things, and getting involved in whatever is happening around her. Because of her curious and energetic nature, she would thrive in a home that enjoys outdoor activities and can give her both mental and physical stimulation. At the same time, she’ll benefit from someone who can set clear boundaries and provide consistent guidance, especially since we still suspect she may have a bit of husky in her. Spayed/Neutered: Pending Gender: Female Dogs: Friendly Cats: Friendly Kids: Unknown, can be tested prior to adoption trial Current Situation: Currently in a foster home and looking for a loving forever family If you have fallen in love and feel ready for the commitment. About Piggy

What life with Piggy looks like

Piggy is a very small adult mixed breed dog waiting at FAPF Hungary in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piggy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piggy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. FAPF Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piggy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piggy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — FAPF Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piggy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piggy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with FAPF Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piggy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
