Pino

Male · Young · 2 years

Pino is a smart and sensitive puppy with great potential, who dreams of his person - someone who will make him feel safe and be his support. He is looking for a caregiver who will show him patience, understanding, and provide peace and closeness, because that's what Pino needs the most. Pino should never end up in an animal shelter. This experience is difficult for him, and despite the passage of time, he is not able to get used to shelter life. The daily noise of the animal shelter is a big challenge for Pino - noise, constant movement, strangers, and other dogs increase his stress and anxiety. The only escape for Pino are energetic walks, which he is always very excited about, but one hour of walking a day is too little for Pino to regain balance in the animal shelter. During the first 10-20 minutes of the walk, Pino pulls as if he wants to escape as quickly as possible and at the same time releases all his frustration and pressure. Only far away from the animal shelter, when the noise fades, Pino is able to stop for a moment and calm down, relaxes, sniffs a lot, scratches a bit, explores, becomes more interactive, looks back at the person and when he is praised for it, he comes back for more praise or petting. Pino is a dog that reads human intentions very well and tries to adapt to the caregiver's expectations - during walks he often looks at his guide, responds to instructions and calls, and learns very quickly. It isn't easy for him, as he functions on high emotions, but his great willingness to cooperate with people is evident. He already knows several commands, and his intelligence and great desire to cooperate make further learning a pure pleasure for both him and the caregiver. Pino loves sniffing, so we assume that nosework would be an ideal activity for him - an activity that will help him calm down and strengthen the bond with the caregiver. Pino is interested in watching other dogs and very much wants closer contact. He doesn't know how to politely and calmly establish contact with his own kind, but his intentions are always positive and free of aggression. After adoption, this area will definitely require work from the caregiver. For Pino, we are looking for a family that will provide this young puppy with daily, long and interesting walks and will know how to support him in difficult situations for him. We recommend Pino for a home located in a quiet neighborhood, where there is silence and interesting walking areas are available. Pino will not find his way in a noisy home or in one where there are small children. We don't know his relationship with other pets, including cats. If Pino were to be placed in a home where there is already another dog or other animal, an introduction to the resident is required.

PL·Show original

About Pino

What life with Pino looks like

Pino is a small young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires quiet environment, long daily walks, and patient owner due to shelter stress and anxiety

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
