Pip

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 14 years

Meet Pip 🐾 Pip is a gorgeous, larger-sized Staffy cross with the softest, sweetest nature. She is a gentle soul who takes a little time to build trust with new people, but once she knows you, she is incredibly loyal, affectionate and simply loves being by your side. She is a settled, easy-going girl who has been an exceptional mum to her puppies. Now that her babies are almost ready to fly the nest, it’s finally Pip’s turn to find a loving family of her own. Pip walks well on the lead and enjoys a quieter pace of life. She would thrive in a patient home that will continue to build her confidence and help her blossom into the wonderful companion we know she can be. Due to her size and gentle nature, we are looking for a home with children aged 14 years and over. Previous experience with Staffordshire Bull Terriers or similar breeds would be an advantage, as Pip will benefit from owners who understand the breed and have the right skills to continue building her confidence. Pip is a truly lovely girl who just needs someone to give her the time and patience to settle in and show them what a wonderful companion she can be. If you’re looking for a kind-hearted, loyal dog who will repay your patience with endless love, Pip could be the perfect addition to your family.

About Pip

What life with Pip looks like

Pip is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Pip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pip if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
