Pippa

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

All of our partners in Sardinia are currently facing the same problem: puppies, puppies, puppies... The female dog Polpetta belongs to a neighbor of our partner, who lives in a village near Olbia. Several times already, our partner had asked the neighbor if he would allow Polpetta to be spayed. He wasn't opposed, but didn't see any reason to rush... And so it came to pass as it had to: the two little male puppies belonging to another neighbor took advantage of the opportunity, and on March 2, 2026, Polpetta gave birth to five babies. (By the way, we also got to know the two fathers—and we’d love to introduce them to you here, too.) The neighbor then cautiously asked our partner if she could help find good homes for the babies. Of course, she said yes, and during our project visit in March 2026, we immediately met the little family. At that point, the plan was still for Polpetta to stay with her owner but be spayed later. One baby was to be kept by the owner’s daughter; four babies were to be given up for adoption. When we saw the little family again in April, we were surprised to learn that we could take over the entire family—Mama Polpetta and her five babies. Naturally, we agreed and set about photographing mom and her little ones. Polpetta is an absolutely lovely, very friendly, and trusting dog. She’s loving and caring toward her children. And the babies—the girls Perla and Pippa, as well as the boys Peppe, Pino, and Polo—are simply enchanting, unreserved, lively, and cheerful. You can clearly tell that they’re being treated well and cared for properly. The only issue is that they don’t live indoors, and there’s no guarantee that the gate leading to the street will always be securely locked. To prevent anything from happening to Polpetta and her babies, we’ve purchased a sturdy puppy fence. It’s not huge, but it now provides the necessary safety. As soon as legal requirements permit, we’d like to bring Polpetta and her babies to Germany. There, they’ll find their forever homes with loving people who’ll give them close family bonds. Would you like to welcome the wonderful Polpetta or one of her little ones into your family? If you’re currently looking for a new furry family member and you’re aware that adoption not only brings immense joy but also requires work and great responsibility, we’d be delighted to hear from you. We arrange adoptions nationwide. Your contact person for this...

About Pippa

What life with Pippa looks like

Pippa is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pippa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pippa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pippa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pippa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pippa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pippa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pippa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
