Adopt Pirat

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

On November 5, 2021, I was returned back according to the staff agreement at the animal shelter. Despite the great love that appeared during the adoption between me and my owner, it was not possible to deal with my reactivity. Unfortunately, there were many shortcomings on the owner's side. I clearly reacted to situations that constantly changed. There was no monotony during this time, which would have calmed me down. My owner took me to work because he was aware of the number of hours spent at the company. Therefore, he did not want to leave me at home. Many incidents occurred in which the company employee, client, and even guests at home suffered because of me. I react very badly to changes, which comes from my unstable past, lack of self-confidence, fear. Lack of proper introduction, consistency in actions and working on the disturbed behavior. Certainly, for safety, I should not live with children. 10.11.2021 I am going to a new home in Gliwice :-) 14.02.2021 Hello! My name is Pirat! I am still a small, very young, less than a year old dog. I was brought to the animal shelter from an intervention near Ks. Tomeczka, where I supposedly wandered without supervision. The next day, the animal shelter received information that my own owner was throwing me out into the cold because she wanted to get rid of me. And she herself reported my wandering. A sad truth! I am still a puppy, how was I supposed to cope?! I need someone to raise me, not leave me to fate. The truth is I am wild, I am lively and sometimes during play I accidentally scratch or bite. But! I also have the right. Surely, such an energetic bomb as me, with minimal physical activity, can become frustrated, destroy, bother. Because my needs were not met. No one worked on me walking nicely on a leash, I am slowly maturing - I cannot handle it myself, and here without a caregiver who would tell me what is allowed and what is not. I have current vaccination, deworming. I was also microchipped, I am already after the neutering procedure.

A nawet goście w domu. 10.11.2021 Jadę do nowego domku w Gliwicach :-) 14.02.2021Cześć! Nazywam się Pirat! Jestem jeszcze małym, młodziutkim niespełna rocznym psem.Do schroniska zostałem przywieziony z interwencji z okolic Ks. I sama zresztą zgłosiła moją tułaczkę. Przykre prawda!

About Pirat

What life with Pirat looks like

Pirat is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pirat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pirat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pirat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pirat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pirat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pirat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pirat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
