Pistazie

Male · Young · 1 year

- feisty - young, typical age - playful - not rehomed to young children - friendly, trusting - allows being handled according to his conditions - needs freedom - house-trained Pistazie came to us as a security measure from a breeder at our area. Now, the lively tomcat is searching for a forever home. Pistazie is a young, feisty tomcat who, as befits his age, is playful, curious, and full of energy. He loves exploring his surroundings, playing, and even getting into a bit of mischief. At the same time, he is a friendly and trusting tomcat who enjoys interacting with people—but on his own terms. If things get too much for him, he makes it clear, so his boundaries should be respected. The handsome tomcat can be handled, but he decides when he wants to be. Therefore, we are looking for a home without young children where understanding of his character and the time to settle in are brought. Once Pistazie has built trust, he becomes open and enjoys the attention of his people. Pistazie knows other cats and would therefore like to move into his new home with another cat (Macadamio 145_S_26, Peanut 146_S_26, Cashew 996_F_26, Aria 152_S_26). Interaction with fellow animals is important to him and helps to keep him stimulated and balanced. Of course, Pistazie is house-trained. After a sufficient period of getting used to his new environment, he would like to enjoy some freedom to play outside, explore, and discover his surroundings. An ideal home for him would be in a quiet location with secure freedom. For Pistazie, we wish for patient and cat-experienced people who appreciate his lively character and want to give him a loving home. This animal comes from a breeding with a representative of a puppy mill. The breeding-induced morphological and/or physiological changes in so-called puppy mill breeds can lead to behavioral issues and are associated with physical suffering and pain for the animals. According to § 11b Animal Protection Act, the breeding of such animals is prohibited. One characteristic of this breed is the breeding-induced strong shortening of the facial skull. This leads to a narrowing of the upper airways and tear duct, inward-rotating eyelid margins, overbite, underbite, and crooked bite, which can severely complicate eating. The wide skull makes a natural birth difficult. If the animals suffer anatomically, it is a puppy mill. As advocates for the animals, we reject this. Animal owners who support such breeding act irresponsibly. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Pistazie

What life with Pistazie looks like

Pistazie is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pistazie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pistazie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pistazie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pistazie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pistazie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pistazie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pistazie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
