Adopt Pituxa

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

The little Pituxa is an enchanting dog girl in her prime. She is loving, friendly, always in a good mood, and extremely affectionate! Pituxa approaches all people to collect their well-deserved cuddles. She prefers to sit on someone’s lap and snuggle for hours with her person. She can also be a bit demanding; she doesn’t like to be ignored. 😉 When Pituxa wants to cuddle, it’s hard to resist her lovable pest. Pituxa also walks uncharacteristically willingly. However, she is happy and content with leisurely walks in nature. She doesn’t need to perform sporting feats, but she is satisfied if she can explore her surroundings and sniff around a bit. Of course, she must also greet other dogs and people, and digging is also one of her hobbies. Pituxa walks well on a leash. She doesn’t pull and always looks to her person. However, she has a certain prey drive and is interested in her environment. While Pituxa gets along well with her fellow animals, she only reluctantly shares cuddles with other dogs, so she would probably be happier as a singleton princess. Whether the charming dog girl can also get along with cats would need to be tested if there is interest. For Pituxa, we wish for a home where someone is always there for her. Ideal would be sturdy retirees, but we could also see Pituxa as a desk dog. Reasonable children who know how to handle a dog would certainly not be a problem. Currently, Pituxa lives in 35043 Marburg – Cappel, where she can be visited. Pituxa is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, tested negative for Mediterranean diseases, and has an EU Pass.

About Pituxa

What life with Pituxa looks like

Pituxa is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundehilfe Portugal in Speyer.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pituxa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pituxa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehilfe Portugal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pituxa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pituxa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehilfe Portugal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pituxa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pituxa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehilfe Portugal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pituxa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
