Adopt Platera

Female · Adult · 4 years

Spanish Galgo born in 06/2021 about 65cm tall Compatible with: male dogs, female dogs and cats Compatibility with children not yet tested Platera is a beautiful Spanish galgo with a particularly special presence. Her slender, elegant body and gentle eyes reflect the typical grace of this breed – and then there are her playful ears, which give her a unique, lovable charm. She appears both noble and playful, calm yet full of quiet joy. Currently, Platera lives with our friends at an animal shelter in Spain. There, she shows herself as a friendly and accessible female dog who enjoys contact with people and is open and loving. She also gets along well with other dogs, and even meets cats in a tolerant and calm manner. Platera is one of those dogs that aren't loud but touch you with their quiet demeanor. She observes, takes in her surroundings, and grants trust when met with calmness and warmth. So much potential for a close, intimate bond lies within her – she wants to find a place to belong and simply be part of a loving everyday life. One can easily imagine her running through nature with her humans, feeling the wind in her fine fur, and then settling down contentedly afterwards. A soft dog bed, tender hands, and a sense of safety – all seem to be what she genuinely yearns for. Platera is waiting to be seen – not just because of her beauty, but because of her wonderful character. Who would like to give this special galgo a home and show her how beautiful life can be in our shelter? Platera is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, registered, and has been checked by a vet. Additionally, she has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and will bring an EU vaccination passport with her to her new home. We have put all the pictures we have of Platera into a slideshow above on the page. Just take your time and look through the pictures, or click on them if you'd like to see each image individually. Galgo Espanol geb. About Platera

What life with Platera looks like

Platera is a adult dog waiting at Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. in Essingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Platera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Platera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Platera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Platera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Platera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Platera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hoffnungsvolle Tierherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Platera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
