Adopt Plum

Male · Puppy

The sweet dachshund mix named Plum comes from the Hungarian animal shelter. His owners wanted to have him put down. A relative took the little guy in temporarily. But she soon felt overwhelmed by the then anxious dog and handed him over to the care of our Hungarian partner shelter. At first, Plum was very afraid of us humans and hid in his hut. But that's in the past! Today, he is our absolute mood lifter. As soon as he sees familiar faces, he runs up to the enclosure door with a wide grin. A true sunbeam who simply radiates love! Initially, he is still a bit suspicious of strangers and doesn't jump onto laps right away. But with a little patience, he opens his heart very quickly. Once he knows his people, he is friendly, uncomplicated, and a loyal companion in everyday life. He already runs well on a leash and gets along well with other dogs and cats. For the sweet, cheerful nature, we wish loving, active people who will give him time to settle in, take him for beautiful daily walks in the green, and shower him with love and security, which he has long deserved. The sweet Plum is, of course, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, medically examined, has an EU pet passport, and will be traveling arrangements. As always, we would like to point out that a dog from the international animal shelter needs time, patience, and a loving welcome. New impressions, new routines, and new bonds should grow in peace. Those who are ready to walk this path together will be rewarded with a very deep connection. The handover could take place on June 27, 2026, in Berlin or alternatively in the Stuttgart area, should someone fall in love with him and want to give him a – forever home. Short info: Name: Plum Breed: Male dog neutered Age: 01.04.2025 Shoulder height: ca. 32 cm

About Plum

What life with Plum looks like

Plum is a large puppy/kitten dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Plum, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Plum?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Plum on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Plum if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Plum already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Plum isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Plum and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
