Plume

Cane Corso · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Plume is a gentle Plume who was abandoned here. Apparently, she was brought home as a sweet little puppy and is no longer wanted. At the moment, everything is too much for me, I basically expect the worst, the suspicion is close that I was physically abused. I react extremely fearful in new situations, touching me is difficult for strangers at first, I am completely unsure and very skeptical, but I do not react badly. However, my caregivers say I am already seeking security from the bipeds here. Because if you give me some time and do not pressure me, I actually thaw quite quickly, start to cuddle and behave like a funny puppy who is ready to discover the big world. What are my caregivers looking for me? I really want to move in with dog-experienced people who can read my body language correctly. In my new home, I should be allowed to arrive quietly and not be overwhelmed. A too turbulent household is definitely not for me, that would be simply too much. I would absolutely love to visit a dog school, because I have not learned much so far, although I am a really smart girl. I would love to move out of here quickly. Could you imagine going through thick and thin with me and showing me how beautiful life really is?

Was suchen meine Pfleger nun für mich?

About Plume

What life with Plume looks like

Plume is a large puppy cane corso dog waiting at Tierheim Essen in Essen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Plume, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Plume?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Essen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Plume on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Plume if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Essen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Plume already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Plume isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Essen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Plume and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
