Plume

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Gender: female Age: born around October 2021 (approximate estimated date) Size: medium (35 kg - July 2024) Date of arrival at the shelter: March 2022 Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats, okay with children Temperament: sociable Progress: January 2025: Plume is extremely cuddly and doesn't run away—she'll need people who are very calm and often at home. July 2024: What can you tell us about her temperament? About her qualities? She’s extremely affectionate and tactile, full of sweetness. She knows how to stay home with our dogs when we leave without causing any damage. She also stays in the enclosed yard and grounds when we’re outside the house mowing or talking to the farmer who comes by. She’s learned a lot. She needs lots of love and patience. Over time, we’ve gradually loosened the reins so she feels more independent, while still knowing we’re there. Will the future family have any training ahead of them? Love, patience... Have a well-secured area where she feels safe when they’re gone. What kind of family profile would suit her best according to you? (housing, environment, children, daily routine/outings) She’d need a very present family and a solid kennel or garage for when they’re away. Over time, we’ll loosen the reins further. In the countryside, with a fenced property. Do you think she’d benefit from having another dog already, or not? Does she get along well with other dogs (male and female)? Does she get along with cats? If you don’t have a cat, please specify. She doesn’t pay attention to it. Is she house-trained? Does she know how to walk on a leash? Can she be left alone for a short while without any issues (no barking, no destruction, no crying or anxiety)? Is she afraid of anything in particular (strangers, cars, noises, commotion, etc.)? Strangers, noises, cars. Is she used to walking in the city? Does she respond reliably to recall? Does she have any specific health issues (illness/disability)? Are her vaccinations up to date? What’s her current weight? 35 kg August 2023: Plume (formerly Lourdes) is once again available for adoption because she struggles to cope with her adopters’ absences during their workdays. Outside of those absences, Plume is very close to her family and described as an absolute sweetheart; she gets along well with children and dogs. ____________ January 2023: Plume (formerly Lourdes) is a shy dog who takes time to relax and bond with humans. She finds it easier to approach women than men. She has no trouble living with children, cats, or dogs. Plume (formerly Lourdes) has never been walked yet; her current adopters haven’t managed to put a collar on her so far. However, she seems to have destructive tendencies—we can’t say for sure whether this is due to lack of activity (since she hasn’t been walked yet), the environment itself, or some other factor. We’re looking for experienced adopters for Plume (formerly Lourdes), willing to work closely with a professional to help her progress, and able to isolate her if necessary during absences until the work on managing loneliness bears fruit. Having one or even several other dogs in the household would be a real plus. March 23: She’s now sociable. A bit shy upon arrival, but she should improve quickly. History: Plume (formerly Lourdes) was returned in September 2022 after being taken in at the shelter along with her mother Madonna (cared for by a French association). Contact: Spayed: yes Vaccinated: yes Microchipped: yes Compatibility: okay with dogs, okay with cats, okay with children Temperament: July 2024: What can you tell us about her temperament? About her qualities? January 2023: Plume (formerly Lourdes) is a shy dog who takes time to relax and bond with humans. She finds it easier to approach women than men. She has no trouble living with children, cats, or dogs. Plume (formerly Lourdes) has never been walked yet; her current adopters haven’t managed to put a collar on her so far. About Plume

What life with Plume looks like

Plume is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Remember Me France in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Plume, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Plume?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Remember Me France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Plume on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Plume if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Remember Me France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Plume already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Plume isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Remember Me France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Plume and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
