Poldek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Looking for a forever home! Poldek lives in our Polish partner shelter. Nothing is known about his background. However, he probably did not experience much positive. When he was admitted to the shelter, he showed himself as a cautious and reserved dog soul towards everything and everyone. Over time, Poldek however gained more trust in his contact persons. His dog soul opens up a little more every day. He already shows joy when he sees them and also gradually allows more closeness. Poldek has a friendly, yet shy and sensitive nature. He will need his time to be able to trust a new contact person. Once Poldek feels safe and secure, the door to his soul opens. He loves walks and walks well on a leash. With his fellow dogs, Poldek is sociable and enjoys their company. He is happy about any opportunity to play and run around with them. We are now looking for a loving home for Poldek. It should be located in a rural area and in a quiet environment. A fenced garden would be desirable. His future home should offer him all possibilities to fully develop his existing potential. Poldek needs stable relationships and daily structures to be able to trust. He will need the time and patience of his humans to find his way in his new life. Building a relationship will be the key to his heart. It would certainly be helpful for Poldek if he could have a confident dog friend by his side. If you are interested in Poldek and want to show him the beautiful sides of life, we look forward to your inquiry. Adopting a rescue dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also become a challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or situations they haven't learned, and need time to adjust to their new life. If you are seriously interested in adopting Poldek, please contact the responsible adoption officer of SALVA Hundehilfe. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The contact details can be found below.

Ein Plätzchen für die Ewigkeit gesucht! Poldek lebt in unserem polnischen Partnertierheim.

About Poldek

What life with Poldek looks like

Poldek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poldek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poldek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poldek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poldek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poldek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poldek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poldek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
