Pollito

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Description Our animal protectors report: Pollito had to endure more hardships even in his old age. The little senior was found on the streets of a problematic neighborhood, wandering aimlessly. Initially, he ended up at Córdoba’s euthanasia station and waited there for several weeks, hoping someone would come to pick him up. No one responded. It’s likely that Pollito once belonged to an older person who simply abandoned him after their death. This thought is particularly poignant, as at his advanced age, Pollito needed care, security, and safety. Thankfully, our animal protection partners at Mirada were informed and were able to take the little dog into their animal shelter. There, Pollito was examined and tested for common Mediterranean diseases – fortunately, with negative results. His age was estimated to be around 13 to 15 years (as of 30.05.2026). Despite everything that has happened to him, Pollito has preserved his gentle nature and big heart. He is a lovable, calm senior who simply wishes for a quiet, caring home where he can simply arrive and spend his twilight years in peace. Small, comfortable walks will suffice for him, but regular fresh air and affection are important. Due to his age, small size, and slower reaction time, Pollito needs special protection outdoors – especially when it comes to handling stormy, physically active, or intrusive fellow animals, which he cannot compete with. For Pollito, we are therefore looking for people with hearts, foresight, and a sense of responsibility who will accompany him with care and give him the security he so deserves. Those who wish to give a quiet, friendly senior a secure place in life will find in Pollito a particularly grateful little companion. Please note:

About Pollito

What life with Pollito looks like

Pollito is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pollito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pollito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pollito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pollito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pollito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pollito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pollito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
