Polly

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

✅ Can live with children aged 7+ ✅ Neutered, vaccinated and microchipped ✅ Will receive five week's FREE pet insurance Polly is a gentle, sweet-natured lady of around 11 years old who has been blossoming beautifully in her foster home. Having lived much of her life as an only cat, she is still finding her paws in a multi-cat household. While she gets along without conflict, she prefers her own space and would be happiest as an only cat or with another calm, older feline who will respect her boundaries. This lovely girl has a soft, expressive personality. Sometimes she greets her foster carer with an instant purr or rolls on the carpet with her paws in the air, showing just how comfortable and happy she is. Other times, she prefers peace and quiet in her chosen cosy spot. Polly enjoys being close to her humans, but on her terms - she isn’t a lap cat and doesn’t like being picked up, but she does seek affection when she feels safe. She communicates clearly with gentle meows or by moving away, always giving fair warning if she’s not in the mood. Polly has shown huge progress with trust. When she first arrived, she was a little unpredictable during petting and nervous around the other cats, but with patience she has settled into a calmer, more affectionate routine. She has even shared a bed with another cat on occasion! She would do best in a calm, adult household, or with children aged 7+ who understand her need for space and gentle handling. An indoor home would suit her perfectly, especially with soft beds and sunny windowsills to snooze in, though she could also enjoy a safe garden or catio. Polly has a minor ongoing condition of feline acne on her chin, which is easily managed with simple cleaning. She’s also a bit of a foodie - she loves her pouches, dry food, treats, and even has a cheeky taste for bread and chicken if given the chance! This gorgeous girl is affectionate in her own quiet way, sweetly independent, and will reward a patient, understanding family with companionship, purrs, and plenty of endearing quirks.

About Polly

What life with Polly looks like

Polly is a extra-large senior mixed breed cat waiting at People in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. People handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — People will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Polly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with People early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
