Polly

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Polly was placed in our care with the help of familiar animal welfare advocates, and now she is waiting for the family that will finally make her feel at home. Polly is a very agile, playful and friendly dog, full of energy and vitality. She loves to move, play, and would surely feel good with a family who enjoys spending their days actively with her. She currently shares a kennel with Bendegúz and Bobi, so she is not alone during the long days of waiting. Unfortunately, Polly's eye needs to be operated on, but this problem does not affect her daily life. We hope that the necessary intervention will not stand in the way of her living a happy, carefree life as a member of a loving family. We are looking for a guardian for Polly who will fall in love with this cheerful, lively dog, but also understands that dog ownership is not just about play and fun moments. Polly's energetic nature needs to be channeled, taught, raised and consistently directed. She needs rules, patience and someone who loves her but is firm in helping her become a balanced dog. We hope that someone will soon see the dog in her that has a lot of shared experiences, happy moments and love waiting for her. Polly is ready to start a new life - all she needs is that certain guardian who not only loves her playful side but also enjoys taking on the tasks that come with raising her.

HU·Show original

About Polly

What life with Polly looks like

Polly is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Polly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
