27-06-2013 - Another act of incivility, by everyone .... Olbia, 26.06.2013 Today, around 4 p.m., a lady came to us saying that in Olbia, in Via Frosinone, she found four kittens inside a bag and one was already dead. We explained that our dog shelter cannot accommodate newborn kittens, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to take care of them, it is unimaginable the amount of work to be done at the animal shelter (without volunteers), especially now that summer has arrived!!!!! We gave her the milk powder and the bottle, explaining how to feed them. Around 7 p.m., I was called by the animal shelter, there were ecozoophile guards, three guards, with the three kittens. I explained that we cannot accommodate newborn kittens, it would be impossible. The man "........." said to me: "put it in writing that you cannot accept kittens"!!!!!!! Anyone who knows me can imagine what my reaction was: "PUT IT IN WRITING THAT YOU, LIKE LIDA OF OLBIA, ARE OBLIGED TO ACCEPT KITTENS THAT CIVILIZED PEOPLE ABANDON AND FOR WHICH ALL INSTITUTIONS ARE ABSENT"!!!!!!!!!!!!! My blood was pulsing in my head, I thought I was going crazy thinking about those three souls dying because NO ONE would take care of them. BE SHAMED, we are not obliged to ANYTHING, no one gives us anything to maintain 108 KITTENS that uncivilized people have abandoned!!!!!!!!!!! We are at pure madness in Olbia. The institutions completely absent and I also have to hear that WE ARE OBLIGATED!!!!!!!!!! BE SHAMED TOGETHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kittens are very weak, for hours left to their own devices because no one could take care of them until we took them in. I already know what will happen, we with faces wet with tears, I don't know if from anger or despair, I just know that OLBIA should be ashamed of what is happening. I ASK the whole world to help us, I ASK the whole world to spread our appeal so that interventions are carried out with sterilization campaigns ON THE TERRAIN, we are tired of seeing animals die because everyone is absent. HELP US TO STERILIZE!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone wants to help us, contact us. WE ARE DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AIUTATECI A STERILIZZARE!!!!!!!!!!!! Se qualcuno vuole aiutarci ci contatti. SIAMO DISPERATI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Poveri cuccioli

What life with Poveri cuccioli looks like

Poveri cuccioli is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poveri cuccioli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poveri cuccioli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poveri cuccioli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poveri cuccioli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poveri cuccioli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poveri cuccioli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poveri cuccioli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
