Pumi &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

We present with great joy Pumi, an enchanting English Springer Spaniel, currently waiting on a foster home in Spain for his own home. Pumi was born in early 2023, stands about 43 cm tall, and weighs a little over 20 kg. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed – fully prepared and ready for the big journey into a new life. Pumi is a ray of sunshine on four legs. From the first day, he was house-trained and can already stay alone in the apartment for hours without barking or causing any disturbance. Of course, this must be built up again in a new environment, but Pumi has no separation anxieties and is deeply relaxed. His calm and balanced nature makes him a pleasant companion suitable for both families and single individuals. Our cuddly gentleman loves to be stroked and pampered. He seeks the closeness of his people and enjoys quality time on the couch. Even the biggest stud has his weaknesses. For Pumi, this means leash training. His contagious joy for life and enthusiasm for walks sometimes overcome him. With loving consistency and positive reinforcement, he will learn to walk calmly on the leash quickly. His willingness to learn and friendly nature make even the training a beautiful shared task. His foster family describes him as a uncomplicated and adaptable dog who quickly finds his place in new situations and is open to new adventures. Pumi suits both active people who enjoy being outdoors in nature and quieter households that value harmony and closeness. He looks forward to a home where he can be part of the family, enjoy walks together, and be lovingly supported. Our lively Zen master is also quite willing to share his home with other dogs. If you are looking for a loyal companion who stands by you through thick and thin, then Pumi is surely a good address. He is waiting to finally arrive and give his heart away. Would you like to give Pumi a loving home? Then we look forward to hearing from you soon (and Pumi not less!)

About Pumi &#8211

What life with Pumi &#8211 looks like

Pumi &#8211 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumi &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumi &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumi &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumi &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumi &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumi &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumi &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
