Pumuki

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Pumuki - a tiny dog with a big heart ❤️ Pumuki is a small dog with a huge personality! He is very affectionate, people-oriented and sympathetic. He walks nicely on a leash and is a pleasant companion. Whoever experiences Pumuki must inevitably smile: when he manages to escape from his kennel, he runs loudly through the whole corridor - as if he were the biggest dog in the world. His tail wags continuously and his whole posture seems to say: "Here I am!" 😉 Pumuki is a little whirlwind who likes to stand out and be in the middle of the action. Pumuki has had difficulties with other dogs so far. Our dog trainer Pablo is working intensively with him. Fortunately, Pumuki is making progress: recently he was able to go out with Coquito under Pablo's supervision, and it worked very well. This shows that Pumuki can learn to get along with other dogs. However, this cannot be reliably assessed in everyday life and especially in a new home at the moment. Therefore, we are looking for a home where he can be a single dog. With patience and professional guidance, his compatibility may improve further. Health Pumuki was tested positive for Leishmaniasis. Fortunately, his kidney and liver values are good. He receives his medication daily and is well adjusted. When Pumuki came to our Spanish partner animal shelter, he had numerous open wounds on his legs. As soon as the treatment began, they healed completely. Today he is doing very well: he has gained weight and is full of energy - sometimes even a bit more than he needs. 😉 Pumuki is a small bundle of energy and keeps his people busy with his lively nature. For more information on Leishmaniasis, please click here: A moving past Pumuki's past is sad. He was rescued from the street where he lived with a homeless person. When he was discovered, he was only skin and bones and weighed almost a kilogram less than today. A person who could no longer bear to see the little dog in this condition on the street made the decision to take him out there together with two other helpers. We cannot rule out that Pumuki was stolen from his original home by the homeless person. Unfortunately, we do not know what his life was like before. It is all the more beautiful to see how much Pumuki has blossomed. From the completely emaciated little dog, a cheerful, self-confident and lively fellow has become, who finally deserves a real home. We are looking for people who want to take Pumuki as a single dog and enjoy a small, uncomplicated travel companion. Due to his small size, he can accompany his people almost everywhere. He would therefore also be ideal for someone who likes to be on the move and wants to have his dog with him as much as possible. Pumuki is small, cheeky, lovable and full of joie de vivre - a real little one-of-a-kind that you just have to love. ❤️

❤️ Video Aug. 26:

About Pumuki

What life with Pumuki looks like

Pumuki is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumuki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumuki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumuki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumuki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumuki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumuki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumuki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
