Adopt Rada

Female · Adult · 6 years

A medium-sized gray fox-like animal, with one ear standing up towards the sun, while the other watches what is happening under her paws, previously living in harsh conditions - in a small yard, in a shed surrounded by years of accumulated trash and dirt. The owner passed away, and Rada was set free, or rather, taken to a shelter... The dog is shy during the first communication with a human (we want to use exactly this word, because it's not fear, but rather this kind of timid shyness), but once the initial shyness is overcome, she reveals herself as a gentle, affectionate dog. Rada is ready to play energetically, enjoys going for walks and will also be a good "bell" in the yard when strangers come. The dog can safely be adopted by a family with children. Ideally, she would live in a private house, but no longer just as an outdoor dog (or she should have a companion beside her). Rada can also live in an apartment, as she is remarkably tidy and clean indoors. A dog as a friend and companion for people who also enjoy going for walks with their four-legged friend.

Read original (lv)

About Rada

What life with Rada looks like

Rada is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
