Ramses

Male · Young · 3 years

Rafiki and Ramses came to our shelter because the dog in their previous home would always chase the two guinea pigs. Now the two are looking for a new, quiet home together. Currently, Rafiki and Ramses are still rather shy and can react quickly with some panic in unfamiliar situations. At the same time, they are becoming more curious by the day and are slowly beginning to explore their surroundings more bravely. Therefore, we are looking for patient people for the two who will give them enough time to gain trust and arrive at their own pace. Their new home should offer a spacious and varied enclosure where they have plenty of space to run around and discover. Some additional exercise would be good for the two, they still have a bit too much fat on their ribs. Especially important are many different hiding and retreat options. These give Rafiki and Ramses security and help them to gradually venture out of their hiding places more often and stroll relaxed through their enclosure.

DE·Show original

About Ramses

What life with Ramses looks like

Ramses is a young adult animal waiting at Zürcher Tierschutz in Zürich.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Ramses far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ramses, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ramses?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zürcher Tierschutz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ramses on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ramses if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zürcher Tierschutz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ramses already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ramses isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zürcher Tierschutz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ramses and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
