Rambo

Male Β· Senior Β· 11 years

Rambo is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving and adopters who can take him on sniffy strolls, who will take the time to help him settle in and give him all the love and care he deserves. He is a sweet boy who does like his space so could live with older secondary school children who will let him approach at his pace, play with him nicely and give him space to rest and relax when needed. Rambo likes all the space and attention to himself so would like to be the only dog in the home, he would be fine with calm and polite walking buddies. Rambo can be encouraged to engage in training if a tasty treat is on offer. He would like a private garden so he can potter and explore at his leisure. Rambo can settle nicely so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Rambo is currently on medication and will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home with a possible home trial, so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Sweet and independent boy Rambo is an 11 and a half year old Lhasa Apso who prefers to approach on his terms. He likes to plod along on a leisurely stroll before heading home and snuggling up in his bed for a snooze. He does play on occasion, he likes to pick up his toys and throw them around, his favourites are soft, squeaky toys. Rambo needs time to settle in and allow a gentle fuss, he can be a little head shy so does need you to go at his pace and give breaks. This sweet gent is ready to find his new home.

About Rambo

What life with Rambo looks like

Rambo is a senior dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
