Ranger

Unknown

Ranger is a stunning GSD looking for a forever home. His owner is no longer able to give him the exercise he needs and although he is dearly loved, they have taken the brave step to give him another chance of life. Ranger loves chasing the hose pipe and playing in water! He was lead trained, but due to lack of exercise, he has somewhat lost this. He does sit on command and takes treats gently. He has lived with dogs in the past and has previously enjoyed running in a pack. Any resident dog would need to be tested for compatibility. He is used to boarding kennels and manages very well, enjoying the interaction. He can be left on his own for reasonable time periods. He does surface surf – probably out of boredom, so care would be needed in the kitchen.Yes, he dig that hole in the lawn! We visited Ranger at home and of course he was excited to see us and to have some extra attention. He did however sit for us and settle down after we had been there a while. His only exercise at the moment is ball throwing in the garden and he needs so much more. He is clean and dry in the house and will happily stay in kitchen once he has settled down. He has never been around children so it not child tested and therefore would need a child-free home – Older children may be considered. He likes a groom and tolerates having his nails cut with no problem. He loves to chase anything that moves – cats, leaves, birds! Ranger will need a strong handler – he is over excited to be out and about after being confined to the garden. He needs: An active home with owners capable of handling a strong excitable dog An owner that is used to this type of breed ideally A good garden where he can explore and play No resident cats No children; or potentially older teenagers If you think you can offer him a home, please do apply. Ranger is in Shropshire and meet and greet can be arranged for suitable applicants. Privacy Policy

About Ranger

What life with Ranger looks like

Ranger is an adult dog waiting at Team Poundie in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ranger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ranger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Team Poundie handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ranger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ranger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Team Poundie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ranger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ranger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Team Poundie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ranger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
