He is open to interactions with fellow animals but not pushy. Currently, he lives in one of our foster homes and is brought to the office, where he sits quietly and patiently on his blanket. With people, he is open and grateful for any attention. Caution during play, as his imposing four-legged weight and stormy, playful temperament can quickly throw a playmate off balance. Rango had a good but not overly challenging or important experience in his first few months of life. He is just now getting to know other animal species (horses, cows, sheep, etc.). He currently lives with a female dog and two cats. The cats reject his play invitations, which sometimes unfortunately end in a wild dash. This is currently being worked on. For his further good development and balanced behavior, he needs varied, sporting activity, consistent loving guidance, and a small taste of canine behavior. Everything that "lies around" finds Rango interesting and exciting, and he then searches for these objects better places from his perspective and sets them down, or even tries them out to see how they taste. Bartering is something he loves, and he is happy to engage in it. Rango enjoys and drives well in the car, even on longer trips. Rango will be rehomed to experienced, responsible people after several meetings and mutual get-to-know-you sessions. First contact (due to work).

Erstkontakt ( berufsbedingt) nur per What App

About Rango

What life with Rango looks like

Rango is a small young adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rango, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rango?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rango on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rango if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rango already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rango isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Rhein-Hunsrück e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rango and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
