Rascal

Lurcher Β· Male Β· Young Β· 3 years

Rascal is a handsome young chap, who does still need to learn about the big wide world. He needs a bit of support with his lead walking and living in a home, as we have very minimal information on his history. He would prefer for his family to be around for most of the day at first while he settles in, as he has been howling in kennels. He is a confident boy otherwise, and loves his food so this will be a great aid in any ongoing training! Rascal is looking for an active home as he has lots of energy. He is absolutely one for the Sighthound fans and will make a fantastic adventure companion! Meet gorgeous boy, Rascal! Rascal is a stunning 3-year old Lurcher looking for his forever home! Rascal is a lovely boy, who is very typical of his breed! He adores a good sniff about and a playtime with his toys, followed by a fuss from his people. Rascal does have a prey drive, so would chase small animals if given the chance, but is learning to walk well on the lead with this aside. Rascal is able to live with a similarly sized dog pending a successful meet in the centre, and any children should be of secondary school age and above as he can be a bouncy boy! He does jump up to say hello at times, but is a very sweet boy with a lot of love to give. We can't wait for Rascal to find his forever home, he really does deserve iT!

About Rascal

What life with Rascal looks like

Rascal is a large young adult lurcher dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rascal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rascal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rascal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rascal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rascal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rascal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rascal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
