RATOS

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Born in 2021, RATOS is a medium-sized dog with a deep gaze. His muzzle lightens at the sight of his favorite volunteers and the leash in their hand. RATOS is discovering the world alongside us, and he is a very curious dog. He loves to sniff in the forest, and has learned to walk on a leash. He has tried various toys and has chosen his favorites. RATOS is afraid of sudden hand movements, but he is gradually beginning to trust us more. When he gets to know someone, he allows petting and even seeks it out. Walks are a moment when he can rest from the noise and doesn't want to return to the kennel run. Ratos is a dog who gains trust gradually and builds an unrepeatable bond with a person. RATOS currently does not accept other dogs or cats. He does not feel comfortable in urban conditions, but we are gradually trying to get him used to them. Will there be someone who shows Ratos the life of a dog who is loved and cared for, and at the same time helps him overcome his fears?

PL·Show original

Rok urodzenia: 2021 Ratos to średniej wielkości pies o głębokim spojrzeniu. Poznał różne zabawki i wybrał swoje ulubione.

About RATOS

What life with RATOS looks like

RATOS is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting RATOS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RATOS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RATOS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RATOS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RATOS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RATOS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know RATOS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
