Adopt Red

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Origin: Linares (Andalusia) Location: Linares (Andalusia) Size / Weight: approx. 40 cm at the shoulder with approx. 6.5 kg Additional information: neutered, chipped with EU passport, vaccinated and tested for Mediterranean diseases Character: very shy, timid, compatible with other dogs New home: patience, time, no expectations, fenced garden, no small children, first dog Adoption fee: 490 euros including transport costs to Germany This poor creature is our Red, who was rescued in a deplorable condition from a breeder with the help of a "ticket from hell" and has now arrived at our shelter. He was used in the so-called Poodle breeding (which has nothing to do with serious breeding, as the dogs are simply used to generate puppies). These dogs know no normal dog life, but are kept as "goods" and receive only the necessary attention so that they can be used for the bad business of dog breeding. Red should now leave all that behind and from now on he will be on the way to a beautiful new life. During the large Mediterranean test, Red tested positive for Babesiosis, which is transmitted by ticks, and he received his treatment immediately. We wish for Red a family that has no expectations of him, because we simply don't know what he can do in everyday life and what he still needs to learn. Often it is a great help for the dogs if there is already a confident dog in the new home who can show him everything at first. If you have few requirements, plenty of time, patience and a big heart for Red, then contact us, because he could soon be fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered and leave for Germany. If picking up in Northern Bavaria is no problem for you, we look forward to your meaningful inquiry. About Red

What life with Red looks like

Red is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Red, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Red?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Red on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Red if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Red already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Red isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Red and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
