Adopt Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Adult · 5 years

Tyson came to us from an assurance into the animal shelter. How his hind limb paralysis occurred is not entirely clear. What we do know is that Tyson likely fell down the stairs twice. Our Tyson is a very lively, cheerful, and active dog. He loves ball games and it doesn't take much to motivate him. Tyson is very intelligent and wants to be encouraged. As for his background, we unfortunately cannot say much. When he came to us at the animal shelter, Tyson had very little feeling in his hind limb. Through physiotherapy, we were able to achieve a lot in relatively short time. Tyson is now at the point where he can stand on his hind limb by himself. In the months he has been with us, he has made very good progress. His development shows that he might be able to walk again eventually. But until then, it will take time and effort. Our Tyson has a Rollie to help him, and he is very mobile with it. Due to his paralysis, he cannot control his urination and defecation. He cannot independently empty his bladder, which requires daily assistance. Tyson does not need assistance with defecation. Tyson has a strong will and likes to try to assert it. His frustration threshold is very low, and this often leads to sudden outbursts. At our animal shelter, Tyson receives a lot of attention due to his disability, but even so, this is not enough to properly foster and challenge him. Fellow animals find Tyson very interesting, but he is very rebellious and distant towards them. Other dogs are often seen as prey. In his new home, no other animals should live. The new family should be aware of what it means to have a Rollie dog and how much time and effort must be invested. We are looking for an animal shelter with an accessible floor and a garden for Tyson. The new family is welcome to already have experience with this breed. Children in the household should be at least 14 years old. Our Tyson is a real power package and is waiting for a new home where he can continue to be encouraged. The new adopter must be aware that, depending on the state, (unfortunately) there are some regulations to follow for the care of a listed dog - please inform yourself before an application about the regulations in your state and sometimes also in your municipality. In NRW, for example, you must be in possession of the large specialist knowledge certificate. Additionally, for Tyson until the completion of a character test, a leash and muzzle obligation applies. From a tax perspective, in Krefeld, dogs from the animal shelter are tax-exempt for the first year, and after the character test, the regular dog tax rate applies.

About Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson

What life with Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson looks like

Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson is a large adult american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Krefeld in Krefeld.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Krefeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Krefeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Krefeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reg. Nr.: 202227436/S Tyson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
