Zazu

American Staffordshire Terrier · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Zazu, born April 15, 2026, is a young American Staffordshire Terrier female who has not yet experienced the good things in life. She comes from an animal hoarding case and has therefore never experienced many things that are self-evident for other dogs. For Zazu, the world is still completely new. She hardly knows environmental stimuli and must first learn the dog 1x1 and life in a real home. Everyday noises, new situations and encounters can still unsettle her. Therefore, she shows herself a bit anxious at first and needs people who meet her with a lot of patience, calmness and understanding. Once Zazu has gained trust, a completely different side emerges. She enjoys the closeness of her people, likes to be stroked and cuddles for her life. For Zazu, we wish a loving home with people who are aware that a lot of work and joint learning time lies ahead. She needs people who give her security, do not overload her and show her step by step how beautiful life can be. Visiting a good dog school would be highly recommended to build trust together and give her the necessary security. Due to the applicable legal regulations in North Rhine-Westphalia, Zazu may not be placed in a household with children due to her breed.

About Zazu

What life with Zazu looks like

Zazu is a puppy american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Witten in Witten.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Zazu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Zazu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Witten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Zazu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Zazu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Witten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Zazu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Zazu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Witten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Zazu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
