Reggie

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Adult · 8 years

Reggie absolutely loves attention, and despite his size, seems to think he is a lap dog! He's a smart boy and loves to use his brain, so he'll appreciate some games and enrichment activities to keep himself mentally stimulated. Reggie does struggle to relax when he's left by himself and can express this through vocalisation, so a location in very close proximity to neighbours may be less suitable. He walks well on the lead and is typically very tolerant of handling during vet visits and clipping up, often using the opportunity to ask for more cuddles! He is enjoying his food and will eat treats from your hand, and he has a particular liking for soft toys! Reggie is very relaxed around cars and is happy to jump in for travel, however he has been vocal whilst transporting him between centres so this may need some ongoing attention. Meet Reggie, a sweet older boy ready to go home with his forever humans. Reggie can live with children of primary school age, provided they are respectful and mindful of his boundaries. Pending a successful introduction, he could potentially share his home with other pets, and will be fine to live in an open plan home. A secure private garden is not necessary for Reggie as he likes to take life a little slower, so long as he has some local communal spaces for him to explore. Reggie doesn't like being left on his own, so his adopters should be prepared to spend lots of time with him, and he'll be happy having regular visitors in the home.

About Reggie

What life with Reggie looks like

Reggie is an adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reggie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reggie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reggie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reggie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Reggie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reggie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reggie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
