Remi (Ремі)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

We named her Remi. She has been with us for almost a year now. All her puppies are already in families. And her story began like this: She spent her entire life on a city dump. It is unknown how she ended up there - whether she was thrown there or was born there from a stray dog like herself... When our hunter accidentally heard a faint whimper, he couldn't understand at first where it was coming from... there were mountains of garbage all around... And then he saw her... in a pile of garbage she lay with her newborn puppies and tried to somehow cover them with her body from the rain... Even our hunter, who had seen and experienced a lot, was shocked. Out of the 10 puppies lying near her, 4 were dead... She had to be put to sleep too, to take her away from that place. She was with the puppies in a box for a day, stood in our house. Then she was sterilized. While the sterilization was being done, six puppies were with us in a baby bathtub on heating pads. And then for another day she was with the puppies in a box, almost all the time asleep. In warmth, on a warm woolen blanket. And the box stood near the radiator. It seems she had never been so well, so warm, so cozy... She even stopped growling at us. And all the time we thought. We thought what to do next. We thought how to take her back... back to the dump... where she never had a hut, where she survived among hundreds of animals, where every day could be the last... It was such a difficult task, we couldn't think of where to settle the family - the mother and six puppies. We made sacrifices. We evicted Stacy from her enclosure and gave it to this family. Now the dog - mother is called Remi. And Remi has a home - an enclosure, a large warm hut where she constantly sleeps, rests after all the years of her homeless life, because now, every day, a bowl of food and soft canned food awaits her. We didn't know how her future would turn out, we didn't know if we could find a family for her - because we didn't know her character. She is with us. And we love her.

UK·Show original

About Remi (Ремі)

What life with Remi (Ремі) looks like

Remi (Ремі) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Kirovohrad in Ukraine.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Remi (Ремі), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Remi (Ремі)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Kirovohrad handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Remi (Ремі) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Remi (Ремі) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Kirovohrad will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Remi (Ремі) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Remi (Ремі) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Kirovohrad early rather than rehoming privately; they know Remi (Ремі) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
