Adopt Reno

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Reno, a dog born in December 2020. Reno is a lively, friendly dog. What sets him apart is his gaze fixed on humans. He always wants to be close by, waiting faithfully by someone’s side until they pet him, which greatly pleases him and he never gets enough of it. From his photos, it’s clear how happy and positively oriented he is towards the world. He greets everyone who passes by his kennel with joy. Reno loves to play in the dog park, where he can let out his energy and run freely. He walks on a leash very well, so there are no issues on group walks. His interactions with other dogs vary. While he usually gets along well with submissive dogs, he sometimes gets into conflicts when he feels jealous of a fellow dog. However, he is the most affectionate towards his neighbor who lives behind the wall, especially during feeding time. It seems he wants to be alone while eating. It would be best if he went to a new home as a single dog and had his owner all to himself. Currently, Reno weighs 14.5 kilograms, and this weight is optimal for him. His appetite is still strong, and we need to be careful not to unintentionally overfeed him. It’s possible that for a longer period without food, he was very hungry and is now very eager for food. When he arrived at the shelter, he weighed almost 3 kilograms less than he does now, so he must have had a tough life before. Fortunately, he shows no signs of fear, and Reno feels great with us. The grooming procedures related to his coat are very well tolerated by him, and even cutting his coat is not a problem, but trimming his nails is a bit more difficult. Most dogs don’t like this, and our Reno is no exception. This positive gentleman has been waiting for adoption for several years, and we would be very happy if he found a permanent home. Reno is intelligent, quick to learn, and adapts well to new situations, so he will fit in well in a new home. We are convinced that he will be a faithful companion to his owner and will do everything to make the person happy. Reno is vaccinated, dewormed, vaccinated against rabies, and neutered.

Reno, pies urodzony w grudniu 2020r. Apetyt mu cały czas dopisuje i trzeba uważać żeby go niechcąco nie przekarmić.

About Reno

What life with Reno looks like

Reno is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Reno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Reno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Reno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Reno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Reno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Reno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Reno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
