adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen adoption process Now request this dog! 38838 Eilenstedt/Huy. Rey is already in a foster home in Germany and is waiting there for his family. Originally, he came from the public shelter in Baia Mare and suffered greatly there. Rey is a charming male dog. With his people, he is absolutely loving and cuddly. His wonderful fur had to be shaved upon arrival but will grow back beautifully. At about 54 cm, he has a medium size. In Germany, it was determined that Rey suffers from nystagmus. This is an eye disease causing not fully controllable, rhythmic eye movements. Therefore, he cannot see as well and is unsure during dog encounters. Once he gets to know the dogs, he manages. As Rey brings both herding and guard dog qualities, we wish for experienced people for the medium-sized dog man, as it has been shown that he has an enormous prey drive. With his approximately 10 years, he surely doesn't have any wild ideas in his head anymore. However, he is very intelligent when it comes to the enforcement of his will, for example, his prey drive. Therefore, there should be no other animals in his home. With dogs, he has no problems after getting to know them. Since his foster home lives very rural and he has problems with the cats there, we are looking for a place for Rey without other animals. It would be good if you already have experience with dogs, as Rey still has a lot to learn. Our beautiful Rey is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and will be transferred to a new home after a positive match. Many thanks to Lucia B.! You gave Rey his name and opened the door to a new life for him. Many thanks to Anika Hodum from www.anikahodum-fotografie.de for the beautiful pictures of Rey! Date: 10.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvorraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! 38838 Eilenstedt/Huy. Vielen Dank an Lucia B.! About Rey

What life with Rey looks like

Rey is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
