Ricky

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Ricky, 10 years old, is looking for a family for the second half of his life after losing all his references. Ricky lived since he was two months old with his elderly human, who passed away a few weeks ago. He had a luxurious life, with few restrictions, was very attached, and had the right to two walks a day. But after the death of his human, all his references disappeared and Ricky must adapt to a completely different way of life. Ricky is a small dog who may have trouble regulating his emotions; he was probably not listened to much in his first half of life. And when he gets excited or frustrated, he needs some time to calm down afterwards. Once comfortable in his environment, Ricky knows how to settle down calmly and sleep peacefully. But when outside, he is happy to smell all the neighborhood scents and walk with humans. He still tends to try to climb the dogs because he has just been neutered, but he is well-behaved and knows to step back when the dogs communicate properly with him. He also tends to mount the human when he gets excited to release his emotion. With humans, he is very affectionate. When relaxed, he likes to play by nibbling and playing around. He loves to sit on the couch and enjoy human company. He gets excited when he sees a cat and is currently not able to calm down on his own. It doesn't seem to be an intention to hunt, but more excitement. He also seems very interested in the chickens he has met. Ricky can live in an apartment or house with daily walks outside the garden. He will be very happy to explore the world with humans. Despite his 6 kilograms, he does not really like being carried and this aspect will need to be worked on so that he is more comfortable if needed to put him in a transport bag. We will avoid young children who won't understand his need for rest, as he is an aging small dog. More information on our…

FR·Show original

About Ricky

What life with Ricky looks like

Ricky is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at ADPK - Association Des P in adpk association des p tits korrigans.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

Frequently asked

Adopting Ricky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ricky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ADPK - Association Des P handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ricky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ricky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ADPK - Association Des P will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ricky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ricky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ADPK - Association Des P early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ricky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
