Pitchoune

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 16 years

Pitchoune was spayed in 2014 and then released back into the streets as a "free cat" at a time when our association operated that way. To remind you, releasing them is no longer an option for us! We take in timid cats in foster homes and give them the time they need to socialize with humans and their environment. After years spent outside, we found Pitchoune again, and thanks to an adoption, she was placed in a foster home in January 2024. Being warm, cared for, and safe is priceless. The beginning was not easy, she had a great fear of humans. Pitchoune would freeze whenever she met her foster family. After one month, she started meowing to go out, and her steps remained hesitant for a long time, she would only stick her nose out then after a few minutes run back to hide. With patience, courage, and listening, she finally discovered the joy of scratches. Gradually, she started asking for them, and now she's become a real addict who can't take a nap without having a big massage first ^^ She still has a long way to go before being fully comfortable in the house, she is still very scared when bipeds move around. Pitchoune is a small cat weighing 2.3kg with a long soft coat that will certainly require regular grooming and has the particularity of having a little kitten-like meow. All in all, you might think it's like that but don't be mistaken, she is a beautiful mature cat who hasn't lost her youthful soul. Her favorite toy is a small colorful cotton ball that she takes to bed to play. Small but greedy, she won't hesitate to steal some pâtée or dry kibble from the other cats' bowl, even though they are bigger ^^ In her future home, she will need calm and a safe place where she can take her naps, the mimi doesn't tolerate closed doors. She needs a loving and patient family. The presence of children won't be suitable for her to thrive, but living with other cats is entirely possible, just like being the princess of her future...

FR·Show original

About Pitchoune

What life with Pitchoune looks like

Pitchoune is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at ADPK - Association Des P in adpk association des p tits korrigans.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pitchoune, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pitchoune?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ADPK - Association Des P handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pitchoune on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pitchoune if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ADPK - Association Des P will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pitchoune already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pitchoune isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ADPK - Association Des P early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pitchoune and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
