Rimbaud

Mixed Breed · Male

Already 8 months in foster care for Rimbaud. It's time for him to find his family! I just celebrated my 5th birthday, November 20th. My start in life was very difficult and I am now looking for my guardian angel to begin a new life, better than the one I have known so far. My past is very dark: I was surviving... locked in a dirty cage, never seeing the light of day. The outside world didn't exist for me until one day in March 2025. Everything was so frightening. My foster family has taught me many things that initially terrified me: getting into a car, simply sitting on the floor, eating when the light is on, crossing paths with people... The first few months were a constant struggle, a battle every single day. And then, little by little, I began to taste life. Today, I enjoy walks, even swimming in the sea water. I also get along very well with the cats in my foster home, which I observe with gentleness and curiosity. But some scars remain: when I meet strangers, I still prefer to hide. My foster family says about me that I am "an angel that came out of hell," because despite everything I've been through, I have not an ounce of aggression. What am I looking for for my new beginning?

About Rimbaud

What life with Rimbaud looks like

Rimbaud is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Refuge Animalier du Pays de Landerneau in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rimbaud, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rimbaud?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Refuge Animalier du Pays de Landerneau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rimbaud on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rimbaud if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Refuge Animalier du Pays de Landerneau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rimbaud already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rimbaud isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Refuge Animalier du Pays de Landerneau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rimbaud and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
