Ringo &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Ringo is a handsome Labrador-Mix, just over three years old (as of 01/26), who not only impresses with his outward appearance but especially with his big heart and unique character. His shoulder height is about 60 cm, and with his shiny, dark fur and alert eyes, he draws all the attention. Ringo was found in a small village in May 2025. It was raining heavily, and the young male dog desperately sought shelter and warmth. Completely starved and exhausted, he dragged himself into the practice of an animal hospital, where a helper from ArcoNatura discovered him. She took him in, fatten him up, and made sure he came to the animal shelter after a few days. Where he came from, we will probably never know, but we are just as grateful as Ringo that he found his way to us. Ringo is neutered and has tested negative for the common Mediterranean diseases – he is more than ready for a new life. He is calm and balanced, but can also play impulsively and likes to go on exploration tours. Ringo loves being with people, is cuddly, and enjoys every pat. He gets along well with other dogs and is also absolutely compatible with children. Whether he gets along with cats has not yet been tested. At the animal shelter, Ringo shows himself as an uncomplicated and social companion. He likes to play with toys and is happy about every change. Despite his past, he has not lost his trust in people – quite the opposite: He meets everyone friendly and open-minded. If you are looking for a loyal, calm, and loving companion, you will certainly find a lifelong friend in Ringo. He waits patiently but with great anticipation for his ticket to happiness – and if you can help him get it, we look forward to your contact!

DE·Show original

Ringo lebt jetzt in 51063 Köln. Alles Gute, Ringo.

About Ringo &#8211

What life with Ringo &#8211 looks like

Ringo &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
