Rini

Dachshund · Male · Young · 3 years

Rini is a likely 2023-born, neutered Dachshund mix male, who was found abandoned and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. He is a sweet and lively young dog who immediately wins over everyone with his trusting facial expression. He is enthusiastic about everything, enjoys petting and is happy when you spend time with him. He is intelligent and therefore learns quickly. Due to his nice character, the handsome boy would be a lovable family dog, with whom families with understanding children would also have a lot of fun. Rini generally gets along well with his fellow dogs, but sympathy still decides with some males. Therefore, we recommend him as a second dog to a female. His behavior towards cats is not known. He is looking for loving and active people who have enough time for him, do not live in the middle of the city and patiently educate him. Some experience in dog keeping should already be available. The male has a shoulder height of 32 cm and weighs 9 kg.

HU·Show original

About Rini

What life with Rini looks like

Rini is a small young adult dachshund dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rini, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rini?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rini on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rini if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rini already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rini isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rini and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
