Rita

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Gender: Female Size: 50 – 55 cm Born: estimated 2018 Neutered: Yes Accommodation: Constanta Cats: Can be tested Temperament: Calm, affectionate The story of Rita and her son Jussy goes back to 2019. On an industrial area in Constanta, a female dog lived with seven puppies. For two of the puppies, shelter was found. While waiting for a solution, the rest were fed by Madalina, until the day the dogs suddenly disappeared. They were chased away and continued living on the beach. One day, Madalina saw a post on Facebook about a dog in need at the public shelter. It turned out to be the mother dog, Rita. Madalina picked her up and gave her shelter in her small rescue center. She started a search for Rita's puppies and after two days she found Jussy, scared and curled up. He also joined Madalina. Now, several years later, mother and son still live with Madalina. They are both lovely, affectionate dogs who get along well with the other dogs and their caregivers. They are very attached to each other. They are well cared for and look magnificent. Rita can walk well on a leash, for Jussy it is still exciting but he does his best. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but we hope that a nice place will eventually come for Rita and Jussy where they can stay together. We think about patient, experienced dog people, a house with a large garden in a quiet living environment. Intake form

Intakeformulier

About Rita

What life with Rita looks like

Rita is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Help een Hond in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Help een Hond handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Help een Hond will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Help een Hond early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
